Still life
Still life is the basis of my photographic learning and teaching
Because I learned photography via still life it has always been important to me. Being in control of every aspect helps and it is perhaps the best way to acquire lighting skills. These were fundamental to my teaching, and of course nothing is more formalist. Again there are analogies with drawing, being a very deliberate and considered activity. An extension of this has been experimental work with multiple exposures and afterwork on the image.
